Why aren't galleries listed on auction platforms?
Most galleries sell artwork directly in what is known as the primary market, meaning work coming to market for the first time. This is straight from the artist’s studio to market.
Auctions, on the other hand, are taking work on consignment from the person who purchased it on the primary market, and thus are known as the secondary market.
Galleries intentionally avoid auction marketplaces. Galleries often represent living artists, provide early access to new works, and build long-term relationships with collectors. Because of this, many exceptional opportunities never appear on public auction websites.
Membership is focused on the primary market, and I occasionally write about how to buy at auction. If the auction world is of interest, please contact me.
What do members get that they can't find on LiveAuctioneers or other free auction sites?
Auction platforms are excellent for finding what is available on the secondary market and occasionally snagging a great work by a contemporary artist that is hard to acquire on the primary market.
However, they do not help you discover the freshest material coming out of artists’ studios right now, and they do not give you a complete picture of what is happening in the primary market at the moment.
As a member, you will receive curated recommendations, expert market insights, and context behind each artwork. That is the kind of judgment no algorithm or open marketplace can give you, and the reason you are seeing the right piece instead of just more pieces.

My recommendations are purely based on what I’ve seen and liked. No gallery or artist can ever pay me to be featured, and I do not receive a commission from any gallery from whom I help sell work.
